‘FREEDOM WITHIN YOUTH’ is a fashion editorial based on contemporary youth culture in the UK and attitudes towards sustainability in fashion. Using handmade garments from sustainable, slow fashion designers along with second-hand vintage pieces from my own wardrobe, it follows a group of friends navigating the dystopian reality we live in.
Research into climate change has created a feeling of urgency and responsibility in young people to live sustainably and protect our future - rejecting overconsumption and fast fashion. Pulling on themes of girlhood and coming of age, this editorial is inspired by that impending sense of doom, and the need for escapism that comes with it.
